Based on ADRA Sri Lanka’s five years of experience working in Tanggale, the agency has built good relationship with local authority and targeted communities.

The goals of this project is to support the ongoing rehabilitation and development of tsunami affected and low income families in Tangalle Division through provision of housing improments and water sourcing.

HWSI is targeting to construct 5 new homes for tsunami affected families without suitable replacement housing, to construct 89 permanent kitchens in order to complete home construction in tsunami resettlement communities, to construct 40 latrines for low income families and to implement a pilot aquaculture project rehabilitating two ponds and mobilizing the community to raise and harvest locally appropriate fish.

To increase the awareness of water, sanitation and hygiene, the PHAST program activities will conduct at community and household level.
