The situation in nursing homes and orphanages are not currently adequate for the refugees to be able to recover from the war trauma. With inadequate clean water and sanitation facilities, it is very difficult for them to be able to return to normal activity. IBLC project aimed to provide them with basic need such as pure water facilities also to provide them with some physical and mental relief exercises by including them in social and leisure activities. The schooling age children will be encouraged to go to the schools by providing them with schooling items, in doing so they get the opportunity to be exposed to the outside world and could get relief from their mental stress.
Improvements to water, sanitation and living conditions will result in better health and less exposure to illness and diseases, in order to respond those needs, ADRA Sri Lanka's intervention through IBLC project will focus in three basic components that improve the basic living conditions of the people in the orphan and elderly homes; Water source and water supply systems; Improved psycho-social status through increasing access to leisure activities; Providing non food relief items to the schooling children.
